spartacus was a free man who was made a prisoner by the romans and was forced to fight in the arena for the entertainment or roman republic.When he was about to get freed,a roman murder his wife on the order of batiatis.so spartacus with his fellow gladiators rebbelled against romans to seek vengence of what cruel deeds they did to them.
Crixus is a central character in the Spartacus series. He is the former Champion of the capua, introduced into Batiatus' ludus as a slave desiring the life of a gladiator, whom eventually fights his way up to become one of the top gladiators of the ludus. During the arrival in Blood and sand, Crixus is seen as champion and becomes the lover of Naevia. However, after she is banished from the ludus, he joins forces with Spartacus and leads his men in rebellion against the House of Batiatus, and later Rome itself. He goes on to become a trusted ally to Spartacus and one of the first rebel leader . Crixus is known as the Undefeated Gaul.
